The Anguilla Amateur Athletic Association has its origins in the works of Mr Colin Bynoe who organized athletic and other sports championships in the late I 960’s and early 1970’s. Prior to the work of Mr Bynoe athletic competition was restricted to school age competitions
Mr. Bynoe’s work was followed by Mr. Paul Chatterton under whose leadership the association was formalized and membership of the International Amateur Athletic Association was secured in 1978. The mandate of the Association at the time included the organization of cycling events but this responsibility was relinquished with the formation of a cycling association in 1986.
